Inspiration for Life

Posted in Video by Natalie on December 18, 2011

Sorry I haven’t been posting for a while. I’ve been super busy packing up my apartment, getting ready for a big move and new job 🙂  But I wanted to post this video someone shared with me today. It’s a little sentimental but still worth watching nonetheless. It’s fascinating how relevant the words are today as they were 70 + years ago. And, it really goes to show that we’ve been facing some of the same issues for decades. Maybe this will inspire us all to treat each other a little better this holiday season.

These videos from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant about their friend, Karl Pilkington, kill me. You can also see their new show on the Discovery Channel, An Idiot Abroad – awesome! Watch, and try not to laugh!

Word as Image – Animated Typography

This video acts as a trailer for a book by Ji Lee, which, you guessed it, visually turns words into images. The concept is actually pretty simple once you see it action. Check out the trailer below (my favorites are inflation and silicon).

Also, speaking of Ji Lee, I have to mention her Bubble Project. This is SO clever yet simple. I love it!

The Dance

Here is a found footage collage I edited together using Final Cut Pro a while back. I love the black and white tones, and was pretty happy with the overall rhythm of the piece. Also, don’t fret, nothing is wrong with the sound on your computer, the video is *silent.* While it may seem odd that images and video depicting music and movement would be silent, it was done intentionally so the viewer can focus on the juxtaposition of images and movement of the objects and frames. Plus, with no sound, the viewer is forced to create their own music in their head – which is something I do every time I watch 🙂
